The most important information about the trip will be
placed here
1. It is very important I have an active email address for each person; this is the primary way I will communicate with everyone.
2. I will also communicate all new information and messages from me on this website -- bookmark it and check it often for updates.
3. Sign up as soon as possible, I expect the trip to fill up fast. It is also important to sign up before the end of March to get the $200 early bird sign savings. Trip is limited to 50 people. Students, parents, faculty, staff and friend of Industrial are welcome to participate. Normally there will be more adults that students on the trip. Most students will have one or both parents on the trip with only a few students traveling without parents. Mr. Doggett and Mr. Henry will be in charge of supervising these students.
4. Let me know if you need more flexibility with Explorica’s payment plans, I am sure I can work something out for you.
5. This trip will have upgraded food (better food) and upgraded hotels (located in the city center close to all the action).
6. There will be 2 adults to a room and 3 or 4 students to a room.
7. I highly recommend everyone purchasing travel insurance, it will save you lots of money if something comes up and you can't make the trip at the last minute and it helps during the trip if something were to happen. Read all the information on the Explorica website and then ask me questions if need more information.
8. There will be lots of walking on this trip (like all past trips) so make sure everyone signing up for the trip is able to keep up or be willing to keep a slower pace apart from the group.
9. KEEP IN MIND: This is not a luxury trip; it is a budget-minded affordable trip in decent, modest facilities that should please all who enjoy traveling. Keeping the price affordable, without reducing the over quality of the trip is my primary goal. This trip will be on the level of all pervious trips with the addition of upgraded food and hotels.

Packing:
I understand that it is hard but it is so important to pack light! Participants should limit themselves to 1 checked bag and 1 carry on. Any bags that do not fit under the bus will make the bus time very uncomfortable if extra bags need to be placed where you are sitting. Plus everyone must be comfortable lugging their bags up stairs when necessary. On the Italy trip we almost had to leave bags behind. Do not plan on buy extra luggage to bring back purchased items, we might not be able to get them on the bus. You can mail items back if we do not have room for them on the bus.Specific information coming later, as it changes all the time.
Here is the link to the TSA regulations website so you are completely up to date on their restrictions:

Get your passport soon, if you wait too
long, it will cost you more money to get one rushed!

Specific hotel
information for the hotels we will be staying in will not be posted until it is
provide to me and that is normally about 30 to 60 days before departure.
General Hotel Information
Accommodations:
Hotels abroad are often not as modern or standardized as they are in North America. Here are some things to expect:
Rooms and beds are usually much smaller and have single beds. (Adult rooming can be sometimes be two twins that are pushed together to create a double bed or an actual double bed).
Rooms seldom have air conditions or televisions. Not all have phones in the room either—this is becoming more the case in recent years as the hotels rely on guest having personal cell phones.
Not all European hotels have elevators and if they do they can be extremely small. One major reason to pack light! You must be able to carry luggage up and down stairs when necessary.
The showerhead may be detachable, hand-held device, directly above the toilet or sink.
Groups may not all be roomed next to each other and may be on different floors.

Shoes - wear shoes that are comfortable and ones that you can walk in.
Light-weight layers are
recommended to suit the weather conditions, it will likely be wet and cool.

Spending money
- how much money you will need will depend on how many souvenirs you want to
purchase, The only money that will need to spend will be on lunch,
beverages that are not part of the meal and
tipping the tour guide. You might bring extra money for sodas, street
vending food like hot dogs, honey roasted peanuts and other snacks that you
might want.
Tipping:
Exporica recommends collecting tip money before you leave for your tour. It is sometimes hard for the students to remember to budget it in while they are traveling. EF suggests tipping amounts are $4-5/day/person for the tour director, $1-2/day/person for the bus driver and $1-$2/person for the local guides (You will have 4 on this tour).Money:
It is recommended to exchange $50 into euros before you depart on your trip. This way 50 people aren’t running to get money at the exact same time! Do not bring travelers’ checks since they are difficult and costly to cash. ATMs are the most convenient method for cash withdrawals. All travelers should check with their banks to ensure that their cards will work abroad. Also, it is wise to inform you bank you will be out of the country so they will not suspect fraud on your cards.Meals:
MONEY BELT
- get yourself a money/passport belt that goes under your clothes. This will help you keep your valuables safe from pick-pockets. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO LOSE YOUR PASSPORT and money belt will help keep it. Passports are a little big to carry in your pants pockets guys. You can get these a Wal-Mart or Target.
Students that are traveling without parents or an adult will be under the
supervision of Mr. Doggett and Mr. Henry. Student traveling with their parents will be
under the supervision of their parents but also expected to follow school rules
and rules of the travel company which will be enforced by Mr. Doggett and Mr.
Henry
Student are not allowed to be left in the hotel alone at any time, even if traveling with a parent, tour company rules. A student can stay in the hotel if accompanied by their parent or an adult.
Students are not allowed to be on their own at any time while on the trip It is okay for student to split off with other groups as long as an adult is with them.
