Stage Manager candidates can
hold an office and be stage manager or assistant stage manager. Candidates
will also have to make a speech in front of the theatre production class
explaining why they should be stage manager and what their experiences and
qualifications are.
Each stage manager candidate will also have to take a test over the duties and
responsibilities of stage manager (see below) and assistant stage manager.
The stage manager will be chosen by a combination of a vote from the theatre
production class, test results and director choice.

All Theatre Production Members
are automatically members of the IT Club
Officer Responsibilities:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. An active member of Theatre Production
2. Exemplary grades, attendance and discipline
3. President only – must have served one year as officer (except this first
year)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attend all club functions including executive meetings
2. Maintain communication with sponsor/director, other officers and all members
3. Lead by example and be willing to serve in any capacity for the good of the
club
4. Other duties assigned by sponsor
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The President
shall:
1. Preside at all meetings of the drama club
2. Call emergency meetings of the drama club as needed, with permission of the
director
3. Prepare agenda for all meetings with the sponsor
4. Coordinate all other officer and be sure that they are proficient in their
work
5. Promote and further the interest of drama in our school and community
The Vice President
shall:
1. Perform the duties of the president in the absence of the president
2. Keep member contact information current for each club member via online
submission form
3. Work with the president to promote and further the interest of drama in our
school and community
The Secretary
shall:
1. Keep accurate account of all club meetings and submit typed meeting minutes
to the sponsor and president
2. Keep accurate record of attendance for all meetings and events
3. Maintain a binder with all records, minutes, and club information
4. Read the minutes of the previous meeting at all regular meetings
5. Help the sponsor prepare all needed forms and handouts
The Treasurer
shall:
1. Collect all money due to the club, issue receipt for all money received and
deposit all money with the sponsor.
2. Maintain a binder with accurate account of all club funds and make a report
at all meetings.
3. Help collect funds that are due and past due to the drama club
4. Work with the sponsor to complete all necessary paperwork for funds raisers,
etc.
5. Prepare the box office cash box and collect it when the box office is close
and give it to the sponsor
The Public Relations
Officer
shall:
1. Be in charge of turning in announcements to the office for upcoming events
2. Be in charge of contacting the media for coverage of events
3. Be in charge of producing the program for each show
4. Be in charge of show publicity including the school marquee, posters, radio
spots, news paper ads, etc.
The Historian
shall:
1. Be in charge of keeping the clubs yearly scrapbook up to date
2. Take pictures and submit them to the sponsor for posting on the website
3. Keep the club bulletin board updated (sponsor approval needed before
implemented)
4. Create signs for drama to go in the halls
The Stage Manager
shall:
1. You must be respected by the actors to be effective. Do not you raise your voice at them or become rude with them, if you do that I can’t defend you. You need to report anyone who is not following your instructions to me.
2. You need to be the first at rehearsal and the last to leave.
3. Oversee all crews for each show and communicate progress, needs, and problems to the director
4. You need to prepare a production book with attendance, company member contact numbers, script and cues.
5. You will need to take attendance before each rehearsal and give Mr. Doggett a list of students who were late or absent – ask Mr. Doggett if you are not sure what to mark down for someone.
6. You will need to get the actors on stage to warm up on time before each rehearsal.
7. You will need to make sure that actors are quite backstage while rehearsal is taking place on stage.
8. You will need to sit next to Mr. Doggett and follow the script after the lines off deadline and call lines.
9. You will need to be the eyes and ears for Mr. Doggett backstage or anywhere he is not and not have a problem letting reporting anyone who is not off task or not following instructions.
10. You will call cues during the show, this means a “stand by cue” and then a “GO” cue and that the person on the other end of the radio replies back “standing.”
11. You will need to give warnings every 30 minutes counting down to a performance during the last 30 minutes ever 5 minutes until it is time to go to places.
12. Make sure box office is staffed and open 45 minutes before curtain. Lobby doors should remain locked until 30 minutes before curtain. Make sure all actors get a final call to check props before opening house to audience.
13. Make sure all technical elements have been checked and all scenery and props are in place before opening house.
14. Give time warnings to company during intermission. Call places two minutes before intermission is over (when given direction from the director)
15. Never leave the stage during a performance unless there is an emergency.
16. Lead the company in cleaning up the classroom after a performance, makeup, costumes, trash, tables and chair back ready for class etc.
17. Closing up the theatre: lock outside glass lobby doors, wooden lobby doors, side metal doors, hall doors between band hall and theatre classroom, make sure sound and light boards are turned off properly, make sure follow spot is unplugged, turn off stage work lights, restroom lights, all blue backstage lights except the one over the breaker box stage right.
18. You will need
to prepare a list of needed supplies and materials and give to the director.
You will need to insure that the auditorium is prepared for all events.
19. You will need to know all the rules and guidelines for rehearsal and help Mr. Doggett enforce them.
20. Check attendance on all bus trips, every time we get on the bus.
21. Be familiar
with all ASM duties and help as needed.
The Assistant Stage Manager shall:
1. You will be working with the tech crew.
2. Be the first to get to rehearsal and last to leave.
3. Make sure everyone is on tasking and not jacking around.
4. Make sure the tech crew is not so loud that they can be heard on stage.
5. Make sure double doors to stage are closed during rehearsal.
6. Make sure anyone using a power tool has eye protection on.
7. Make sure the tool room and wood loft remain clean and organized.
8. Make your tech crew starts clean up about 10 before rehearsal is over.
9. Make sure all food and drink trash is cleaned up and thrown away after each rehearsal. If I find trash after rehearsal I will not allow any food or drink during rehearsal.
10. You will assist the stage manager with keeping actors and techies quite backstage.
11. You will not be rude or raise you voice to any actor or techie.
12. You will be my eyes and ears backstage and in the class during rehearsal and performance and must report any problems to me.
13. Make sure there are always sharpened pencils for actors to use before rehearsal or as soon as rehearsal is over.
14. Make sure actors are NOT eating in costume.
15. Make sure actors hang up their costumes properly.
16. Assign radios to crew members that need them; make sure all radios go back on charger after rehearsal and performances.
17. Never leave the stage during a performance unless there is an emergency.
18. Lead the company in cleaning up the classroom after a performance, makeup, costumes, trash, tables and chair back ready for class etc.
19.
